2-Phosphonobutane-1,2, 4-tricarboxylic acid (PBTC)

2-Phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid (PBTC), CAS 37971-36-1, formula C₇H₁₁O₉P, MW 270.13. Low phosphorus content. With both phosphonic acid and carboxylic acid groups, it offers excellent corrosion and scale inhibition. Superior to common organic phosphonic acids at high temperatures. Improves zinc salt solubility, keeping zinc in solution even at pH 9.5.

Corrosion and scale inhibition in circulating cooling water and oilfield water injection systems

Especially suitable for blending with zinc salts and copolymers

Used in high-temperature, high-hardness, high-alkalinity systems and high concentration ratio operation

Chelating agent and metal cleaning agent in the detergent industry

When blended with zinc salts in cooling water, improves corrosion inhibition and alkaline scale control; typical dosage 5–15 ppm, preferably by continuous addition

Directions for Use

PBTC is acidic. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothing. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

Plastic drums, 25 kg or 250 kg per drum; custom packing available
